I watched France yesterday and I thought they will take some beating now a few big names have left.

I made a little video for a wikiloops jam and called it Bhang, Bhang, Bhangra. I put it on a little used channel but this morning I saw it had 167 views in a few hours... why? Could it be that 'bhang' is another word for canabis (I didn't know) ? Maybe there are a lot of Bollywood fans out there? If so, I think they might be disappointed or insulted or both. Human nature is such a puzzling thing, you never know what will trend and what will bomb :D

Lol you can get a lot of views if you choose the right wording or phrases. Ask advertising people, they learn how to fish people with these hooks ;)

I just came back yesterday from my short holiday in Albania with the boys, fantastic! If someone is looking for a relative cheap holiday destination that has not been completely touristized, that is it.

Beautiful landscape, very nice people, very calm, polite, I liked it a lot. Might even take Mrs. Gee there to see the mountains in the north, very cool.

I am not a foody, but there were some complains about the food, i.e. a bit dull, but I had a lot of fresh fish and it was good.

While I was on holiday last week I found this Portuguese Brazilian singer, I am in love. I don't understand a word she is singing, but man, I am in love <3:D

4th July

You should know that some of my best friends hail from the U S A :) However, every year I record a version of the Star Spangled Banner with insulting lyrics because I know they all seem to have a great sense of humour (humor) :D

I was just watching a video that Gerry (bluvation) posted in Ask Aimee. It was all about how the brain is full of unfinished 'loops' things we put off for another time but they stay in the brain waiting for action. Apparently this is how advertisers make us want to come back and how suspense is a feature of films and TV shows. The suggestion is either do the 'thing' - make a note to do it or delete it and forget it.

The reason this hit home with me is because I've been having a terrible time trying to access an instagram account, you know how it is - you go around in circles trying to prove you're not a robot... you go through all the instructions and then you just get an email to say 'someone tried to log in' IT WAS ME you idiots, you keep telling me what fun all my friends are having but you don't allow me to get to join in.

Anyway, I decided I'd had enough so I'd take the advice to get rid of the account ... but of course you can't do that when you can't log in. So in this case the unfinished brain loop stays in my brain to haunt me and stress me out. Maybe writing it in the Diary will help to free me up to persue better thing in life. :@:(:o

Not been a good wikiloops week due to health issues in the family. Just managed to upload one proper track which is not enough to provide the release my mind seems to need. (But it was a good one, very droney).

One thing that's been bothering me is that occasionaly I come across tracks that sound too good to be true, excellent playing, professional production etc. But somehow that level seems to put me off. Hmmm.

I need a new pc but I'm scared to move forward as I've had this for years, it's like an old friend. OK, It's let me down, been off colour, dumb, and rebellious over the years but I just thought we'd be together forever :|

You should get a new one. I held on to my old laptop for over 15 years, I upgraded everything that could be upgraded over the years, but in the end, it was just too slow and it had to go. My advice is, buy a good one, it will last longer than a cheap one, if you can afford it.

I used to build all PCs in my house (and the ones of close relatives & friends) myself. But nowadays, thanks to AI and RAMageddon (only one of the evil impacts that has on us), it's hard to suggest anything new.
So maybe try to get a refurbished one? Here in Germany, companies often sell theirs after 4-5 years, so good deals can be made...

Wolfgang, not sure about that. If you buy a 5 year old PC, in 3 or 4 years it will be old and slow again, and then you start having the same problems as before. I bought a used one for Mrs. Gee a few years ago, I regret it now. It's slow and I will have to replace it again soon .
I buy used stuff all the time, but when it comes to PC, I found out the hard way it's better to invest in a good new one.

You are probably right. Some time ago I built the last one for myself, with a little donation from a close friend (he knows who he is) :)

And it's still an AM4 board, with an 8-core/16-thread CPU with integrated GPU, but mostly it's waiting for me instead of vice versa...

How much would it roughly cost to build a good PC that will last for a good while? Is it still cheaper than buying one?

Hard to say right now. Pirices for RAM and even SSDs are through the roof, thanks to the data centers which buy everything they can get. And with big companies getting better rates than we as small fish would get, I guess buying a prebuilt one couold actually be cheaper than building one yourself.

But of course, if you want to know and select what goes in, DIY is still the way to go. I would study price lists for components, and then compare it to what companies like Lenovo ask for a complete PC (which also normally includes a commercial OS, and warranty)...

Mine was built around the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, don't know if you could still get that one (successor on AM5 board would be the 8700G I suppose, but these cost more, both board, RAM, and CPU)...

See the component list on my site at https://wolfgang.lonien.de/2022/10/a-new-pc-build-just-in-time/

I just looked up the successor of the CPU I have, it's not that much more expensive. And they list some complete systems even from big name companies for around the price I paid for mine (although mine has double the RAM, and lots more storage space (2TB SSD and 4TB spinning hard drive): https://geizhals.de/?fs=amd+8700g&hloc=at&hloc=de

Watched the England Argentina game yesterday, what a disappointment. First the usual constant niggling fouling by Argentina, which is unfortunately a normal south american style of football - no offence - just an observation. Then England score, and instead of bringing in more Rashford and Saka to make sure they stay back, what did the tactical genius do??? Apparently they pay him 8 mil a year to be this elite manager, when I, who only coached at local club level saw immediately what is happening. Listening to the radio this morning on the way to work, it seems everybody thinks the same. What a waste of an opportunity.

Having said that, well done a Argentina, when they saw that England went defensive, they smelled the fear and like a pack of frenzied Amazon Piranhas tore the flesh out of that now frightened England team. Very strong mentality from Argentina. I just wish they would stop with the dark arts and just play football.
