I was always fond of Limericks, I used to write a lot of them, great fun. Haven't done one for ages, but I think this needs to change. So we are officially opening the Wikiloops Limerick thread.

For those who want to read up on what is actually a limerick, read here. I personally prefer the classic shape one, however we will be open to slight variations here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limerick_(poetry)#:~:text=The%20standard%20form%20of%20a,two%20feet%20of%20three%20syllables.

So go on, take the pencil out from behind your ear and start scribbling :D

I'm not particularly good at it, but here's an attempt:

to save art from danger

There's this guy named Tee Gee,
that plays slide guitar with a squeegee.
He stared this thread on wiki
now will see this biweekly.
I don’t know but I’v been told,
His reply to this maybe bold.
B) I didn't understand the definition Limerick so I just rhymed Lots-o-Stuff

Here's another one, Tee Gee

I just met a guy at the bar
Who played a mean shredder guitar.
It was was howling and squealing
And I've just got the feeling
This must be the loopers guitar shredder star.

Here goes:

Ernie’s bass playing is reeking of class
Pulsating, exact, and melodic, alas
His party trick dazed
Had people amazed
He fretted one handed whilst scratching his Bass

(as a background, Ernie is a keen fisherman ever since he was a wee lad. I was hoping to find a picture of him with his pet donkey, that would have been even better and I could have removed the B, but... :D )

There once was a player named Nick
Who could play the guitar real quick
He'd turn on the fuzz
while catching a buzz
The music he played was quite sick!

(in a good way LOL)

One for Peter:

Pre geriatric drummer named Previn
His rolls and thumping pure heaven
He played as hard as he could
Which made the bassists get wood
They tended to play better, I reckon

Very good :D I love it!! Very good flow!

I will have to spend more time on this, Limericks are so much fun. Especially finding a solution for the last line, if you get it right it's satisfying :)

"...The most prized limericks incorporate a kind of twist, which may be revealed in the final line or lie in the way the rhymes are often intentionally tortured, or both. Many limericks show some form of internal rhyme, alliteration or assonance, or some element of word play..."
