Under the Lake

Blood moon climbing as the night seeps in,
Sticky as molasses on an old peach tin,
And it won't be long now till the water comes down,
When the dam wall breaks and the sinners all drown,
You can hear them all saying how the world can't die,
But you see them all praying when the time draws nigh.

Living on the edge of your dreams,
Picking through the bones of a lie,
It's a wall that's not as high it seems,
And whatever you try,
It still falls down.

Pale faced woman on the hill up high,
Laughing insanely at the crack in the sky,
Twitching on the tree where they set her on fire
Shouting with glee as the water gets higher,
The pious couldn't break her with torture and pain,
When they meet their maker they can try to explain.
