If I was a rich lady I wouldn't give a second thought ~
About the money that I spent, the luxuries I bought ~
If I was a rich lady I'd be generous and brash
Extravagant and worry free, no need to count my cash
But I am not a rich lady ~
I have to live life carefully ~
I cannot spread my wealth you see, all that I can give is me

I can give my company, sympathy, empathy
I can give encouragement, words of wisdom, truly meant
I can give my time, attention, lots of virtual hugs
I'm too far away to give you germs or deadly bugs
I can give my music, stories, jokes and poetry
I can give my smiles and hopes, reliability.
I can give most everything that's in my power to give
I am not a rich lady, so frugal is the way I live

But I can't give you money, please don't think I can
All the money that I had has trickled down the pan
I can't give you money I have none stored away
I'm grateful for whatever I get but I can't afford to pay
