When I lay my head to sleep
I pray for everyone in the world
For the hopeless and the broken hearted
All the people in the world, people in the world
All the mothers and the fathers and the sons and the daughters in the world
All the lonely and the lovers all the people in the world, people in the world

And I\'m praying for the kids who never made it home
Praying for the kids who came but never stayed for long
And I\'m praying for the kids who\'re still stuck in that system
For the ones that were lost and the ones that were missing
I hope they know that somebody listens
I pray for the teachers, the doctors and lawyers and thieves

I pray for the preachers for the saints and the sinners and the friends and the enemies

Some of them have names others have none
Some of them are native others are just there for fun
Some of them are thick, some are pencil thin

Did you think it was too much when I put my hands together and said I wanted to pray for all the plants in the world
Was it too strange for me to say that?
I wanted to pray for all the plants in the world

I pray that the Earth heals from the wounds that we have left
From the concrete and the steel, from the roads and from the death
What you give, you get, the better I go, the better we go
The better we do, the better we get
