Wade I went to UCSB. Lots of friends there and caught a lot of great music there. I was living in Ventura County then, but with University, friends, and other interests, was making a pretty regular commute. +1

mdn I worked in Santa Barbara and lived walking distance to UCSB and Goleta Beach. I never met more musicians anywhere than in SB. +1

Wade It was a very long time ago...early 1970s. There had been riots in Isla Vista and the bank was burned down. Different times! Not many musicians living there then but good groups touring that came e.g. Chic Corea, Airto Moreira, Keith Jarrett, etc. Students were surfers and kids from Bakersfield and Fresno getting out of the heat and away from home. I think the demographic and attitude changed a lot subsequently. +2
