Prayer Before Birth.
I was safe and secure,
in my mothers womb.
Safe and secure,
inside my cocoon.

But the cord of life,
hangs around my neck.
Mother please,
don't push me out just yet.

What is it like out there mother,
do tell me, do be fair.
Should I come, or should I stay,
Will you still love me anyway.

Mother am I what you wanted me to be,
or will I die in infancy.
Will I be loved, or will I be rejected,
or maybe I will be what was expected.

Mother I wonder if I will like it out there,
when all the doctor's come to stare.
And the big bright lights shine down on me,
mother dear, please let me be.

I feel safe and secure,

Perhaps I might die, from an infection,
or even worse, lack of affection.
I'm part of a plan,
conceived by a man.
