OK, I've spent probably the best part of a day on this track overall now. I started the drums yesterday, hated them, shelved it to today. As usual, a dossed about with all kinds of fancy crap. All of it didn't feel right to me. In the end, the obvious beats were by far the best choices. Nevertheless, typical me to compose a track that does NOT forgive even slightly sloppy playing. It took a lot of goes to get my ...

mpointon Thank you! I'm happy with the Rammstein comparison as I love them! I don't know the influence really as Rammstein never even occurred to me - but defintitely Tangerine Dream in there (big reverb on the floor tom hit is borrowed from them!) but possibly other more recent electro stuff like Bentley Rythm Ace and Chemical Bros. +1

mpointon I should also add I'm also a huge fan of Phillip Glass and there's definitely his influence in there as the whole thing is built on ostinatos. +0

Always the perfectionist, but we are the happy recipients of this. Good to remind us of how many work so hard to bring us great music like this. +2

That's a day well spent! I don't know the genre, but I liked this very much. 1:15 was my favorite section. :Y +2

mpointon I have no idea of the genre either! It very much plays into my enjoyment of ‘hybrid’ music - soundscapes and ostinatos backed by ‘real’ playing. Something tangerine dream and ozric tentacles were masters of.

Ultimately I’m a bit of a musical Magpie - I have no real chosen genre of music I like to play. I’m no longer a rock drummer, nor am I a jazz or Latin player. I just run with what I like the sound of.
