rootshell much thanks Tu <3 +1

Wicked add brother. :W Those clean lines starting at 4:03 really capture David's tone in so many of their tunes. <3 Love the twisted mandolin like section and the volume swell whammy work. Very cool. :W +3
rootshell
rootshell thanks Ron...great jam track. it's kind of a battle between holding notes and when to jam in extra notes, was an internal struggle for me lol...too much fun brother! +2
Riffraff
Riffraff I hear ya man. You're trying to stand on that brake but you just want to get off and rip. Your rake into a held note at 4:18 is also such a classic Gilmour move. Love it. :W<3 +2
rootshell
rootshell DG has that classic brake to rip ratio down. Your tone is great for DG stuff, I need to tweak mine a bit, I gotta back off the fuzz a lil and add a bit more sustain. Thanks Ron! +3
Riffraff
Riffraff I wanted to do the classic Big Muff & OD thing DG does and tried to use a BD-2 into a Ram's Head Big Muff but it was way too noisy. I ended up using my trusty old RockMaster preamp. One of these days I'll break out something interesting from the amp vault. I just can't push a vintage combo to the verge of meltdown at 5 am when I do my recording. :D +2
rootshell
rootshell it's funny you mentioned this...i was thinking of doing a deep dive into some youtube videos to see if i can tweak my pedal enough to get close to that DG sound. any pointers Ron? +0
Riffraff
Riffraff DG stacks gain pedals to get his sound. Natural OD of some sort, not much gain into a Muff style fuzz set on the darker side. The OD gives it a little more definition. Play around with the fuzz sustain & OD's gain controls until it sounds right to you. Follow that with a chorus set with the depth pretty high but set the speed very slow. After that delay and reverb to taste. +1

rootshell found a youtube video of some guy showing the Zoom pedal settings for a Floyd-ish sound, added it to the chamber of sounds :) +1

Awesome track<3 +2
rootshell
rootshell thank you David :W +1
Riffraff
Riffraff Which Zoom pedal are you using? You have come up with some really wild sounds so I figured it was one of their floor processors. The tone you used in Sniper was insane. I wouldn't even know where to start on that one. What was that? +1
rootshell
rootshell it's the Zoom G1X Four. for being a digital processor it's not too shabby. I think for Sniper it was more of the picking position...I think I picked it back towards the bridge to get that tone :) +0
Riffraff
Riffraff I don't know man, it was more than just picking. It was the way you played it. Maybe palm muting the hell out of it while you were playing and doing it clean but with some kind of effect that really enhanced what you were doing. Whatever effect you were using was making your notes cut off sharply but they were dark & round. I've never heard anything like that before. Kudos for what ever digital witches brew you cooked up in that one. :W +1
Ernie440
