I took Stella's wonderful "If This Is Love" and added my fretless bass, sparingly. Hope it fits, hope it can be used. Thanks for making such great music Stella!
jussef63
Awesome work my friend, another sensible aproach, fits excellent with this lovelly track from Stella +2
wjl
wjl Thanks again Jussef. Once I've grown up I hope I can play like you :) Joke aside - I'm a bit rusty, so more work is good for me at the moment... and yes, Stella's track *is* lovely!

Really good add, even though I have no tempo! +1
wjl
wjl Thanks Stella - oh, and you have a very nice and natural tempo of approximately 73.414 (forgot to add this meta information to it) :) <3 +2
GrooveEnth
This is very, very nice indeed. Really wonderful and sensitive addition to a lovely tune. +1
wjl
wjl Thanks GrooveEnth - and yes, I really dig what Stella's doing here. Loved her tune, so I tried to add something. :) +0

cool and minimal ... as in less is more ;) maybe your output level could be brought to normal listening level ? it's like -10/-12 db and should be more like -5/0 db ;) +1
wjl
wjl Merçi Olivier! And yes, I thought the same - I have my exports on/in Ardour set to respect LUFS (-23dB avg), but maybe for here that's a bit counter productive. Care for a remix? Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, really appreciated! :W +1
OliVBee
OliVBee well at least you know what to aim for now ;) +1
wjl
wjl True. Hmmm I wonder whether I could change it to a louder version - still learning about the 'loops here, I'm new since Feb (a few days before my birthday). +1
OliVBee
OliVBee i think you need to look into Jamin ;) +1
wjl
wjl Oh I see - and yes, I have it, and knew that page. Hmmm loudness is worth a discussion in the forum in my opinion... +1
OliVBee
OliVBee mmm if you think Jamin is only about loudness then you'd better reconsider ! ;) +1
wjl
wjl Got me - haven't looked into it very deeply yet! ;) +0
OliVBee
OliVBee i have recorded many songs on Ardour and used Jamin alot ... dude do yourself a favor and look into Jamin ;) +1
wjl
wjl I will Olivier - I was just put off a little by these "mastering tips" at http://jamin.sourceforge.net/en/loudness.html - this goes against everything which is for instance stated and explained here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LKFS
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerre_du_volume
https://tech.ebu.ch/docs/r/r128.pdf

- and that is why I suggested to discuss these technical things in the forum perhaps. But still, thanks for your tip, it's really appreciated! :)

OliVBee don't get side tracked ! it's not because a tool can adress loudness as a part of several musical components that it will instantly cross the line of loudness war ... +1
wjl
wjl Hehe true! Maybe I should come and join the meeting end of August / beginning of September, and then you can show me how you do it? That would be a cool thing... +1
OliVBee
OliVBee and to begin with it is PEOPLE who fight for loudness not tools ! +1
Neronick
Wunderbar! Geschmackvoll! :) +1

wjl Danke Nick! :) +0
Shi
sensitive bass playing there wjl, the right touch for Ms Stella's sweet and soft vocals :) +1
wjl
wjl Thanks for your kind words, Shi! :) Stella sounds so fragile here, didn't really know how not to do too much... +1
