My Neighbor, Jack
Jack is my neighbor from China...slipped him some fish one day while he was out walking...Jack is... I'm guessing about 70. Been here in the US for 30 years. Nicest guy you can imagine..so that's where this title came from.
Beautiful work Tyros4..hope you don't mine me pulling up a chair and joining in. I went alto sax on this one. Mikebanez used a tenor sax on his version..that sounds pretty good as well.

That's the place to be for sure. I feel so sorry for players who learn mechanically and just repeat the same tired licks and arpeggios. the sax can and should be your distinctive voice.

Very nice add Mark. Really digging your sound on Alto. Your upper register is very pure. Lovely phrasing and the lines resolve in a logical and pleasing way. Great space in them also. Kudos.

Half of it is getting a good mix, which I hope I am getting better at...and actually having a good tech go through a horn. Always had the Music store do it...the guy that went through my alto this time was awesome. He spoke of smoothing the inside of the neck in addition to leveling tone holes, etc...It plays like dream...Wish I could send all my horns in to him. It's also a factory re-laq '65 VI. Have you heard of that neck procedure?

Hey Mark, I can imagine smoothing the inside of the neck would be a good idea in the case of build up inside.....de-scaling I guess of just smoothing out any rough bits of workmanship although I’ve never encountered that on any necks. As long as the procedure works and makes for a better playing horn I’ll look at most things...other than the usual snake oil products out there like tone screws and the such-like. Levelling tone holes is a must too. Well whatever the guy did made a for a great sounding horn and a very nice solo from you.

Thanks he mentioned the necks originally were a bit rough out of the factory. When I got it back it was night and day fir the better. Best part.. turnaround on the horn was about 1 week. Music stores can take forever just to get it in (Most stores in my area contract out to the schools...) I just bought a Boiste Tenor..and am having it gone through. Will be interesting to see how that sounds. Thanks for the great compliment...I run and hide when I hear you play :):o
